R.L. Seale & Co. was founded in 1926 by Reginald Leon Seale, who upheld the proud Barbadian tradition of producing fine aged and blended rums. Today, the company is run by Richard Seale, Reginald’s great-grandson and the fourth generation of the family’s rum-making legacy.
Richard Seale is best known as the Master Distiller and Master Blender at Foursquare Distillery, which the Seale family revived in 1996. Over the years, Foursquare’s rums have earned numerous awards and developed a devoted following, with enthusiasts eagerly anticipating each new release.
Located in the southern part of Barbados, the distillery benefits from the warm Caribbean breezes that gently surround the oak barrels where the rum matures. This environment plays a key role in shaping the distinct character of R.L. Seale’s 10-year-old rum. The bottle itself is instantly recognisable, with its unique asymmetrical design, a rare cork stopper, and a striking ‘pirate’ gold seal on the label. The deep black glass further enhances its distinguished appearance, making it a standout addition to even the finest collection.
From the first pour, this exquisite rum captivates with its rich golden hue and enticing nutty aroma. On the palate, it is exceptionally smooth and well-balanced, with layers of flavour that unfold beautifully. Notes of roasted almonds and subtle vanilla, drawn from its oak barrel ageing, create a refined and memorable tasting experience.
R.L. Seale’s embodies the essence of Eastern Caribbean rum, offering a true taste of Barbadian craftsmanship at its finest.
